Registration Checklist

(BEFORE coming to Meet & Greet)

1. Prior to August 2, 2023 New DCSD Families should register ONLINE through the New Student Registration Application; Returning DCSD Families should complete the Current Student / Online Verification Application.

What you need to register online:

  • Current proof of residency:  one utility bill (gas, water, or electric only) OR a current deed or signed lease (dated no earlier than June 1, 2023)

  • Parental photo ID

Also, if you have not already submitted the following:

  • Immunization form 3231 (available from your healthcare provider)

  • Vision, Hearing, and Dental form 3300 (available from your healthcare provider)

  • Child’s Social Security card (if you wish to provide—not required)

2. Go to Vanderlyn’s MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT at www.vanderlynpto.org to create or update your online account*. Click on “My Account” then “My Account and Online Forms” to complete the following:

  • Parent and student family information:  All families need to enter their contact information.  Once entered, your directory and publishing preferences will be saved for the online directory.

  • Subscribe to our weekly newsletter, Viking Views: Make sure you are receiving all of the important Vanderlyn Elementary and Vanderlyn PTO correspondence by subscribing here to Viking Views.

* Please note:  If you already have an account on Membership Toolkit, your account becomes “inactive” at the end of the school year.  When you login, it will ask you to verify your account and information for this year.  Your previous login and password will work, and your child’s grade level will automatically be updated to reflect his or her promotion to the next grade.

3. Fill out the OPEN FORMS to complete your PTO registration and pay for your student’s items with a credit card. This will save you time on registration day.

Forms to Complete:

  • Student Fees:  This form includes a contribution to a monetary gift for each faculty member and, for 5th grade only, a fee for the end of year graduation celebration.

  • 2023–24 PTO Membership form:  Joining the PTO provides you an active voice to support your child’s school and is the best way to stay connected with what is going on at Vanderlyn. Membership also provides you with access to the online school directory.

Please note:  PTO Registration does not mean you are a member of the PTO.  While membership is optional (but recommended), completing the online PTO Registration form is required.

  • Annual Fund One-Check, One-Time Donation form:  Please help us continue the tradition of excellence at Vanderlyn by donating money to the 2023-2024 Annual Fund campaign. 100% of your donation will be used to enhance the educational experience of every student and faculty member at our school.

Programs Supported by the Annual Fund:

  • Faculty Development and Appreciation - Seminars, conferences, training (i.e., Orton-Gillingham and Project Based Learning), and stipends.
  • Educational Programs - Educational materials, author visits, teaching gardens, academic competitions, field trips, and book room resources.
  • STEM Initiatives - STEM lab supplies, STEM resources, STEM/PBL Days, and STEM Career Day.
  • Schoolwide Events - International Night (Passport to the World), VanderDash, and Field Day.
  • Facility Care and Campus Safety - outdoor classrooms, clinic supplies, playground equipment, landscaping, and upgrades to the Media Center.

Without your Annual Fund donations, these programs would not be possible.  All donations, large and small, DO make a difference.  Help us reach our goal of 100% participation.  Be a Viking Champion, donate today!

4. Complete and bring in additional forms

Save time and fill out the following three (3) forms beforehand and bring with you to Registration/Meet & Greet Day:

  • Dismissal Agreement

  • Permissions and Privacy Form

  • Bus Rider Agreement

These forms can be found at vanderlynpto.org under Parent Resources.

Please note that there may be some Vanderlyn and DeKalb County forms (emergency contacts, etc.) that will be completed in your child’s homeroom class when you meet the teacher.

To avoid unnecessary delays and to be sure your child gets a chance to meet his or her teacher on August 2, you are strongly encouraged to complete your REGISTRATION CHECKLIST at home, prior to Meet & Greet. If these steps are not completed prior to Meet & Greet on August 2, you will be directed to the Media Center where there are a limited number of computers to use. In addition, cellular service is poor inside the school building, so completing your registration off campus is highly recommended.  Also note that new SPIRIT WEAR orders can be placed at Meet & Greet.
