Passport to the World
A good time was had by all at our Passport to the World event on Thursday! The rain held off and we were able to enjoy all kinds of delicious food, treats, music and educational information from 18 countries around the world. The PTO would like to extend a very special THANK YOU to all the families who worked so hard to host a booth representing their country. Another big THANK YOU to the group of parents who planned and executed the event. We are so fortunate to have so many creative parents at Vanderlyn to enhance our children’s learning experiences! Check out photos from the night on our school’s website.

Grounds Day 2018!
Grounds day with DUMC went great this year! We had so many wonderful volunteers come out to help. We are sending a big thank you to the following people:
Dunwoody United Methodist Church members for Day of Service
Girl Scout Daisy Troop 19064
Vanderlyn neighbor Mary Kay Morris for volunteering her time and street for lawn bag pickup
Ace Hardware for making a donation
Craig Radke, Candi Miller and Jennifer Dempsey Grounds committee co-chairs
The weather turned out perfect for yard work. We were able to plant pansies all around the school. We took care of dead branches and raised the canopy of many of our trees. We even removed limbs from our weather station dish. Check out our Facebook @vanderlynelementary page for more pictures of the day!
Mrs. Crenshaw is Region 1 Principal of the Year!
Together with the administration and staff of Vanderlyn Elementary School, the PTO is proud to announce that our principal, Mrs. Tracey Crenshaw, has been named Region 1 Principal of the Year by the DeKalb County School District. Region 1 consists of twenty-three high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools in the district.
For the past ten years, the Vanderlyn community has continually thrived under the leadership of Mrs. Crenshaw during her tenure as assistant principal and principal. Congratulations to Mrs. Crenshaw for this well-deserved honor!
