You're Invited to Join Girl Scouts!

On any given day, there are Girl Scouts climbing mountains, painting murals, coding robots, feeding the hungry and advocating for ways to make the world a better place. But right now, our world looks a little different. We have developed programming to meet families in this new environment so girls can experience Girl Scouts while practicing safe social distancing.

We have a wide variety of family activities, challenges, national service projects, virtual events, and patches available to every girl!

Daisies

Whether your girl is just getting ready to enter kindergarten or moving up to 1st grade, Girl Scouts can expand her world outside of school! Girls will unleash their Imagination to try a wide variety of new and exciting things. She'll make friends, grow in confidence and build skills that will help her in school and beyond.

Fall Chess Fun and Study Online

This fall, Championship Chess will teach live online classes, combined with our web-based curriculum, the World of Chess. Studies show that learning chess improves math, reading and problem-solving and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes.  Join us for online learning and fun!

WHO CAN PLAY? Students 1st grade and above.    There are 3 classes to choose from:

  • Novice for all Non-players and those with very limited chess skills
  • Intermediate for those with a fundamental knowledge of the game: some openings, endgames and tactics
  • Advanced for tournament players who have studied openings, endgames and tactics in greater depth

To help provide hands-on learning experiences during a virtual learning fall semester, the Spruill Center

is offering three programs for students:

  • Art Explorers and Mixed Media Masters Afterschool Art Program
  • Wonderful Wednesday School Break Day
  • Virtual Hubs

For each of these programs, a number of scholarships are available for those in need; in particular for working parents on Wednesday’s when no remote learning is planned, and during our Virtual Hubs for those that need internet access or a safe, monitored space for their learning. Social distancing and the mask ordinance will be enforced for all programs.
