Am I required to do online registration?

PTO REGISTRATION

All families will need a Vanderlyn Toolkit account. If you already have an account on Membership Toolkit, your account became “inactive” at the end of the school year. When you log in, it will ask you to verify your account and information for this year. Your previous login information will work, and your child’s grade level will automatically be updated to reflect his or her promotion to the next grade. If you are new to Membership Toolkit, your new account will be your directory registration, provide access to all OPEN FORMS and allow you to stay connected to all of the news and activities at Vanderlyn.

DCSD NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION

Welcome to Vanderlyn Elementary! All new student registration takes place online. Please visit the following website to register your child(ren): https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/online-registration/

Once you have registered, please email your online registration application number to our registrar, Mrs. Gillett at andrea_gillett@dekalbschoolsga.org

DCSD RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION

The Dekalb County School District has moved all returning student registration to an online portal called "Annual Verification."

If your child is returning to Vanderlyn ES for the 2021-2022 school year, you must register them using this online verification portal. Step-by-step directions are attached and included above. During the verification process, be prepared to upload a copy of your license, proof of residence (June/July bill statements only), and your child's medical information. The district is moving all records to a digital format.

All questions pertaining to registration and access to Infinite Campus should be directed to our school registrar, Mrs. Gillett at andrea_gillett@dekalbschoolsga.org or contact the school at 678-874-9002 between the hours of 9am-2pm.

Click the attachment below for step-by-step directions on how to complete the annual verification process. Deadline to complete is July 27th.

Can I register the old way with paper forms at school?

DCSD & PTO Registration must be done online.

What are my payment options for student fees, yearbooks, Annual Fund, etc.?

When you fill out your OPEN FORMS online in the Vanderlyn Toolkit, you can pay with a credit card. If you'd like to pay student fees, Annual Fund, etc at Registration/Meet & Greet, we can accept cash or check. You will not be charged a convenience fee to use your credit card. If you have questions about payment options, please contact Jennifer Dees or Sara Graviss for assistance.

To complete online registration on the Vanderlyn Toolkit site, does that mean I’m required to be a member of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)?

No. PTO membership is optional, but completing the Family and Student Information online and reviewing the OPEN FORMS is required. We do recommend that all parents join the PTO for only $6, which provides access to the online directory (non-members will not have access to this), gives you a voice and a vote in school decisions at PTO general meetings, and keeps you up to date at all times as to what is happening at Vanderlyn. Join us to become an advocate for Vanderlyn!

What are the benefits of creating my Vanderlyn Toolkit account online?

You will save a lot of time by creating your Vanderlyn Toolkit account, filling out your OPEN FORMS online and making your payments before you attend Registration. You can go straight to the cafeteria to find out your child's teacher, get bus route info, check out Spirit Wear, etc.  Additional school and county forms will need to be filled out in the classrooms. Our goal is for ALL FAMILIES to create their Vanderlyn Toolkit account and complete their OPEN FORMS before they come to Registration Day so that the process is quick and easy for everyone.

What do I need to bring to school on Registration and Meet & Greet Day?

All parents:

  • Annual Verification Confirmation

What other forms should I expect to fill out at the school on Registration Day?

In addition to the online forms, you will also need to fill out required paper forms such as:

Clinic Card (provides school nurse with medical information and emergency contacts)

Dismissal Card (specifies who can pick up your child and how your child will get home from school most days)

To save even more time, you may download some of the required DeKalb County forms HERE, print them, and fill them out to bring with you on July 28.

Can I come without my children?

Yes, you may complete the process of Registration without your kids, but they will need to come with you if you want them to meet their teacher before the first day of school. If your child(ren) come with you, they MUST remain with you at all times and will not be permitted into the classroom hallways to see teachers until registration is complete.

How/when can I buy Spirit Wear?

Spirit Wear, such as Vanderlyn t-shirts, is available to purchase online through August 16, 2020 and will be delivered to your child's homeroom. There will be another opportunity to place orders with delivery after the start of the school year.

What if I didn’t pre-order a school supply box back in May?

You can download your supply lists for each grade here. You can bring your supplies in when you meet your teacher on July 28, or with you on the first day of school, August 2.

What if I can’t come on Wednesday, July 28? Will I have a chance to finish registration in time for the first day of school?

First, complete your OPEN FORMS in the Vanderlyn Toolkit, then please call the Vanderlyn front office at 678-874-9002 to confirm that your child will be attending the first day of school. Next, complete the DCSD online registration process.

What happens if I don’t create a family account and pre-register?

You will be required to create your online Vanderlyn Toolkit account and complete OPEN FORMS before gaining access to your classroom assignment and meeting your teacher. There will be additional forms for you to complete in the classrooms. Your Vanderlyn Toolkit account can be setup from home, office, or the Media Center at the school by logging on to vanderlynpto.org.

Why are we doing this online?

We have partnered with MembershipToolKit.com to help with our directory, ordering, and communications. This partnership will save many volunteer hours, help us take steps to become more paper-free, and allow parents to log in and check or update their accounts at any time.

Should my spouse/partner have a separate account?

When an account is created, an email login is chosen by the user. This is done because (1) every email address is unique (so the user doesn’t have to create a login name), and (2) since the address is something that the user already has memorized, it will be easy to remember. Once logged in, the user will enter his/her email address as well as the email address of their spouse/partner. These emails are for notification purposes only; they have nothing to do with logging into this account.

The user and their household should share this account for many reasons. Here are some of the reasons why you only need one account, as well as any additional information you might want to know:

    1.     All information is in one place, including purchases, RSVPs, contact information for both parents, required forms, etc.

    2.     Some organizations require that certain items be purchased before moving to the next screen (such as a band booster club, for example). If there are two separate logins, one of the users will not be able to move past this requirement unless they are willing to purchase a band uniform twice (for example).

    3.     Both spouses can sign up for volunteer opportunities on the one account.

    4.     There will be no duplicate information in the directory.

Should divorced parents have separate logins?

If parents are divorced and wish to have individual logins (separate accounts), they will be listed as separate families in the directory, and all the required forms will have to be satisfied by both accounts. Parents are free to decide which approach they prefer.
